· cultural theory, methodologies, interdisciplinarity of studying culture; debates regarding high and low culture, popular culture; culture as an all-encompassing term including material culture, ethos, ethnos and way of life; anthropology, philology, historiography and the use of culture with respect to language, gender, race, religion, caste, and nation; culture as practices, representation, translation, identity, production, commodification; art, culture industry, media and the new communication technologies; politics of culture: heritage, conservation, appropriation
