Course Objective

This course will introduce students to the role of theatre in mass politics in the 20th and the 21st centuries.

The course will introduce students to theories of political performance and the role of theatre as a part of political mobilization. Students will learn about race, class, and gender in theatre in the 20th and 21st centuries. The course will include detailed study of specific examples of political theatre from both textual and performative approaches.
