Course Objective

• formulate different components of academic writing
• appreciate different styles and possibilities in academic writing
• plan their writing through conceptualization, outline, rough draft, revising, editing
• Reconstruct and synthesize arguments and information from different sources
• Prepare academic submissions using international citation and reference styles
• Understand and avoid plagiarism

Course Content

Study of different genres and styles of presentation of content; the building blocks of writing (sentence structure, paragraph building); exercises using samples to observe and reconstruct the structure of academic writing (paraphrasing, quoting, citing); exercises to build a long report through the preparation of proposal, title, abstract, main body (including introduction, sections, conclusion); exercises to prepare annotated bibliography, literature review.
