1: Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Animal Welfare Campaigning, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (6 months Full Time)
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology is pleased to announce a call for applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a project examining civil society organisations’ perspectives on the issues, progress and challenges of activism for animal welfare rights in the Delhi region. This post is full-time and fixed term for 6 months. It is available to commence from July 2023. The project is a collaboration between IIT (Professor Sarbeswar Sahoo) and Cardiff University, Wales, UK (Professor Paul Chaney). The post-holder will be based in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi and be responsible to Professor Sarbeswar Sahoo.
Salary: The monthly salary paid to the postdoctoral fellows will be INR70,000 (plus 20% HRA).
Duration of Tenure: This is a SIX Months (Full Time) position.

Job Description
The successful applicant will contribute to qualitative social science research within the identified field of civil society and animal welfare rights. Associated duties include:
• Data-gathering – semi-structured interviews with civil society organisations and policy actors.
• Project administration and overseeing interview transcription
• To contribute and support research publications (publish at least 1 co-authored peer reviewed journal article) and presentations as required.
• To maintain and update area of specialist knowledge, researching and critically appraising relevant literature within the area.
• Writing Policy Briefs, Reports and Methodological Papers
• Any other duties not included above, but consistent with the role.
Person Specification - Essential Criteria
• A PhD degree in Sociology/Political Science or a relevant social sciences discipline. PhD students who have already submitted their thesis but have not completed their defence or waiting for the award of the degree may also apply.
• Knowledge of social science research methods and techniques – and knowledge within the identified field of civil society and animal welfare rights
• Proven ability to analyse complex information and summarise appropriately.
• Proven communication skills, including presentation to various audiences
• Excellent organisational and team-working skills.
• Candidates should be under the age of 35 years
