Shambhovi Mitra delivered a talk that won the Best Paper award at the National Conference on Recent Advances in Cognition and Health (NCRACH) 2019. Ms. Shambhovi Mitra, a part-time PhD scholar presented a paper titled, "Does autonomic nervous system impairment influence coping in spinal cord injured patients?”. Results from her doctoral work suggests that even at the lowest severity level, specific component of heart rate variability (low frequency) in the spinal cord injured patients predicts subjective response such as acceptance of the injury. Findings improve our understanding of the disability paradox. Of the twelve presentations in the session on Day II of the conference, Shambhovi won the Best Paper award.
